Hello folks,

I am looking for examples of south facing walls that give a sense of three dimensions but also fit into only one tile.

An example of what I am after is highlighted below.  This art comes from the game 1-Bit Rogue.

Can anyone provide any other examples they can think of as a source of inspiration for my wanting artistic abilities?

It's a springy robot with the following simple animation.

I added some antennae as suggested and reduced the eye size to allow for more defined shading.

What are your thoughts?

That bad huh  :)

The green thing is an eye and it is a robot eye at that.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Simple character would like some shading advice.

I've started off with a simple character and I'm trying to shade it correctly.

I'm not very pleased with the look of the head.  What advice would you give to improve it?

That game has kept me entertained all morning, thanks.  ;D

I've found a programme called Paint3D.  It seems it can export models and I can create 16x16x16 3D sprites which can be viewed from any angle.   :y:

Thanks for the detailed info.   :)

A couple of questions have sprung to mind.

How would you suggest setting up the modelling software for pixelling?

Should I be using voxels?  If so, what editors can you recommend for voxel based work?

Hi folks,

Is was wondering if anyone here knows of some good resources for faux 3D sprites.

The type of sprites I'm interested in are the kind used for games such as Wolfenstein and Doom where they look 3D and change depending on the viewing angle.

Thank you.

Thanks.  That works well for the chain.  :)

Pixel Art / [WIP] Hanging chain
« on: August 09, 2010, 09:38:19 pm »
Hi folks,

I'm working on a chain of arbitrary length.   I'm happy with the vertical links but I can't seem to get the chain links that hang at an angle correct.

Could I have some advice please?

EDIT: Also trying the same thing with this cable.
