Maybe you could try an overall reduction in color count, especially for the background assets. Unfortunately it is clearly not pixel art.

Hello Dan, I am eager to follow you on this journey as you innovate the next logical step in the evolution of modern pixel art. I personally believe that in the future as human beings become increasingly integrated with technology it will be most optimal for artificial intelligence to contrive the images and code directly from our minds. Until then, I am confident this tool will allow users to conceptualize their imaginations more now than ever.

I am privileged to have first seen the workings of this on your twitch streams, and intend to support you as this goes on.

« on: June 06, 2018, 07:06:10 am »

hey dudes, been working on some dragon fruits lately. it's been pretty reliant on my reference but i still feel like it's a good practice

i was hoping to comb over the clusters and bring some things together and possibly better optimize the palette, but im not holding my breath as i feel a little over my head. thanks for checking it out though  ::)

I think I can squeeze a face in there but like you said you may want to work on the shape of the head a little.

Pixel Art / Re: seeking input on pelican and rock

Thanks for the post pistachio, glad you noticed the lack of single-pixel detail, it's how I prefer to do things. Not totally committed to matching the exact silhouette of the reference or anything. How do you feel about the neck shading on this one? The reference pelican seems to have a fairly flat-colored neck and I think this way better emulates the subtlety of it. I think I'm a little too out of my element to go ahead with the ocean background at this time, though considering this piece is a little older and I'm just now attempting to give the rock justice I may do the same for the water later on.

As for the rock:

Don't have a lot of experience with it- not sure if a better iteration is within my grasp. I think maybe the colors don't totally meld together. I'm content for now  :watev:

Pixel Art / Re: Disparate measures - Cave Tiles

The new roof tiles look crazy good, I didn't mind the geometrical stylized original version but these are rad. They do differ in style from the ground tiles much in the way the previous version did however.

I find the grasslands to look amazing, I remember that knight and orc from posts awhile back and I'm glad they're sticking around.

Very interested to see how they'd hold up to some cleaning up.

You had some quite nice shading for the pants on the second one, I'd reincorporate that and possibly up the contrast overall.

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP][CC]A little kobold, struggling with leg/arm anatomy.

Here's my best effort at keeping the same silhouette of the kobold, giving it a little more depth, and reducing the excessive colors and noise.
