Pixel Art / Trying to learn how light hits objects after a long break

Welp, I took a long break from anything art-related and now I feel as though I ought to just start at square 0.

I drew a few shapes and did my best to figure out how the light would hit them using some references from around the house, though there was an image that I took a bit of inspiration from when putting this together.

General Discussion / A question about bases

Hello again~

So I've been browsing DeviantArt a lot more lately and I've been seeing pixel art bases of all shapes and sizes, from couples to chibis. I've also seen a few pay-to-use bases and I've been thinking, wouldn't it be super easy for someone to just copy the pixel measurements? I'm asking because I plan to make my own base to help people out, but I'm on the fence about making people pay for it. Thoughts?

So, as I posted in general discussion, my cousin and I are making a game and I'd like to put any of the work for that game here to be critiqued. I started off small with a sort of grunt level enemy that kind of just came to my head. How'd I do?

General Discussion / Game Plot Ideas

Hey all. My cousin and I are gonna try to make a game and we can't decide on a plot. So far we've come up with two plots. These aren't really very developed so sorry if these are kind of bare bones. (Also forgive me for any grammatical errors)

1. There are two continents. On one continent, there is life, peace, happiness and unity. On the other there is a barren wasteland, ravaged by deadly storms and a long forgotten war. One day, shadowy figures rise in the land of peace, wreaking havoc and kidnapping innocent people. Its the MC's job, along with many other characters that they will meet along the way, to find out what's going on and put a stop to the madness.

2. There are a multitude of Kingdom Hearts-esque worlds (we haven't picked an exact # yet). All the worlds hate each other (There's a machine race that likes efficiency and order, so they dislike races that don't follow that mentality). One day an all powerful sorcerer calls the rulers of each world and asks them if they would be ok with him bringing peace between them. They all say no and team up against the sorcerer. The sorcerer, in a blind fit of rage, uses his magic to fuse all the worlds into one. Every race now unites to split the worlds back up so they each pick a hero to send after the wizard so that he may split the worlds apart.

Please choose which plot you liked the most and what could be done to make it better if it's not too much to ask. Thanks guys.

Hi, I'm still alive! So, I'm kind of putting the chibi request on hold because I wasn't really having fun with it, and I felt like I was doing a sub-par job with it. So, to get me back into drawing, I'm going to make myself a portrait based off a drawing that a friend did for me:

After about an hour, I traced over a little sketch I made and now I'm here:

Obviously there was not a whole lot of work put into it, I'm simply just getting back into the groove of things and setting what base colors I'm going to use. Right off the bat I can tell that the neck is too long and that the face is a bit too round. Do you guys see any other glaring issues other than those?

EDIT: I'm turning this thread into a dump for any anatomy study that do. Hopefully I can learn a lot from this.

EDIT 2: I'm gonna turn this thread into a dump of any art that I do, since I always seem to take a while to come with any ideas for anything and I don't really want to make a ton of threads. Daily Sketch and PixelJoint stuff will definitely be in here as well as any anatomy study that I do.

General Discussion / Is normal to put art requests on hold?

Uh, hey guys. Long time no see :(. So, I've put my chibi request on hold right now until I get my life a little under control. My question is, is that a normal thing to do? To put stuff on hold? I feel really bad that I haven't been able to do anything for it, but at the same time I feel justified to tell the person that I must cease their requests development. I'm really conflicted about this right now... :yell:

HEY-O! I'm back at it again with a another chibi request! I've learned a bit from the last one so I'm gonna shoot for less than 40 replies this time.

Someone asked me to make a chibi of their oc here:

They requested that her bangs be flipped around, make her right handed, and put her in some sort of ninja pose.

I made this body so far:

There's a lot wrong with the arms and the left leg (I haven't gotten the chance to hardcore study anatomy and drawing yet, so sorry about that) but I was wondering if everything was more-or-less in right place. I plan to make the anatomy good before I start on clothing and stuff because it was such a pain last time.

I'm having trouble deciding on which one to redo better. I'd like other people's opinions before I started. And please don't comment "do whatever you feel comfortable with" because if that were the case I wouldn't have asked. Thank you.
