Pixel Art / [WIP][CC] Elvish building overgrown with weeds
« on: August 06, 2019, 07:22:04 pm »
Hello everyone :D

I'm looking for some C&C for this piece:

To me it looks pretty sketchy and I'd still consider it a WIP, although the client was well satisfied with it as it is. The size specifics were big so it was all I managed to create with the client's budget. I know there's plenty of room for improvement and I'd love to put more work into this piece to improve my skills and make it look finished, so I'm proud of putting this at my portfolio pages. But I'm kinda stuck and everytime I open the image it feels like I've reached my utmost. How could I make this better? Please feel free to sketch over it if it proves necessary. Thank you!

Pixel Art / [CC] I'd like to improve this flowerpot
« on: November 15, 2017, 02:26:30 pm »
So, I started drawing this randomly but now I'm willing to push it into a full fledged gorgeous look, not this tomato/cucumber salad that it turned out to be.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

General Discussion / Better transparency grid colors?
« on: September 20, 2017, 05:27:02 pm »
Sometimes I like it better to use transparency grids than a solid color for background when making sprites, but it tires my eyes if I look at it for too long.

These are the grid colors on Photoshop and Aseprite.

Is there any consensus on what are the best colors for background, without mixing up the foreground? I think I remember an image from Cyangmou pointing out better experiences with low contrast colors on these grids (unlike Photoshop standards).

I think the red carpet is going ok, but what about the splash screen? Any thoughts?

Pixel Art / Perspective? 3/4 top-view tree trunk
« on: August 09, 2015, 10:15:43 pm »
Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble with perspective. How do I make good tree trunks in 3/4 top-view? Look:

I don't think the tree I made have a trunk like this, but zelda had big ones that actually show just roots:

Hey,

I'm trying to make this frantic little guy's head look better (but I'm constantly failing on it), can anybody help me please?  :)

(sorry for the gif speed, I didn't think about how it'll be in-game yet)

UPDATE: You can preview the animation here: http://4pixel.4pluz.com/

Hello,

You guys have something to say about it? Something to change, to improve, any tips?

I was willing to ask for help to make the thermometer look like more like a thermometer, cause I failed to do it, haha

Pixel Art / About my RPG game graphics
« on: February 24, 2014, 03:37:54 am »
Actually I was calling it done, but I'm always open to improve my pixel arts, so, if anyone want to express thoughts about it or edit it in anyway or play ping pong with it, it's yours. ...unless you want to use it in your game. Cause in this case, it's mine. MINE. TOTALLY MINE U LISTENIN' TO ME? :D

ps.: I'm just being comical, so in case you think I'm unserious about my willing of improvement, I'm not at all. :)

Update mar/23
Guys, I'm kinda needing some advice here. First of all, are these elements matching for a RPG game? It's weird, I'm finding that the perspective is not matching, specially relative to the character and the tree. My attempt was doing 3/4 top-view (or RPG view), but right now some graphics are looking pretty platform-ish to me. I mean, isn't it supposed to look more like this?

->

It's a little frustrating, 'cause I worked real hard in both of them and now I'm considering to start over (at least the character isn't even close to be complete, due the diagonals/running~jumping~general movements/hair movement/clothes/etc). I've created a lot of frames to make the movement real smooth though. And I know, I exaggerated a lot. But now I don't even know what to delete from here, hahah. :o So I need suggestions and help in any kind.

Moreover, everything here is WIP. This is an example of a RPG-view character that I find consistent. I also figured that is real hard to find 8 directions references from this perspective, even in animated movies, games and web. Maybe a 3D game would do it, but I'm out of ideas about it right now.

Thanks in advance.

Pixel Art / Fishing boat or something like this
« on: February 03, 2014, 07:40:40 pm »

I'm seeking for anything that can improve this. I tried to do a glass window on that hole in the wall, but I miserably failed. Any tips?

(It's kinda like a boat for riding, not exactly for fishing)

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#164 - Room Interior - RPG-view Gameart shading
« on: December 09, 2013, 01:27:11 am »
I started this piece based on a sketch I made last week. Never mind the plaster corner on the northeast, I replaced a standard tile for testing. I'm going to detail it to semi-realistic, but before that I want to get shading right.

The matter is that I'm not knowing how to shade it. I know my main light source is the window (whereas it's a daylight), but theory is punching practice on the face. :'(

This a3um's Study is kind of a inspirational piece, always when I think sun rays and shadows I remember those dust pixels on the light and I drool. :0'

Any thoughts, please?
