Pixel Art / Tarspawn sprite
« on: May 20, 2014, 05:37:33 pm »
I'm trying to get into pixeling again, so this is my latest attempt. (much thanks to Ellian for advice and encouragement.)

My goal was to find a workflow for creating sprites that can produce nice looking finished work - I don't know if I've succeeded since I'll need to look at it again later.
Suggestions for improvement are always welcome, of course.

Edit: Oh right, the palette is Dawnbringer's 32 bit palette adjusted with overlay function.

Pixel Art / Thick outlines + Flareon

Progress:

So, wanted to try the thick lines style. Anything to get more practice, right? Also, as usual, trying to be as conservative on the palette as possible. There is some slight hueshifting to red, but not too extreme I suppose.
Edit: Once again, I keep getting distracted and forgetting to fix things up. Unified the antialias-color on the mane.

Pixel Art / Pumpukin

I've been letting my pixel-art inspirations fester for a while, and I come back with another attempt!
Sadly Im still having trouble understanding the ramblethread, but I tried to avoid one-pixel clusters for the most part..?

Edit:
Uploading it made me do some more tweaking, very inconvenient.

This is an attempt to utilize and learn the basics of pixeling - visually pleasing lines, antialias and color palette.
I also tried to avoid sel-out while refining the outline, though Im not 100% certain what constitutes to sel-out and what does not. (Do dark pixels at the outer edge of a horizontal portion in the outline lead to sel-out? What about a dark pixel on the inner edge?)
