Job offers / [Paid] Sprite animator needed
« on: December 01, 2021, 12:47:23 pm »
Looking for a pixel artist that can animate sprites well. Below is a sample of the style and animation quality- If you can match the quality shown. Feel free to send me links to your resume via discord:
Lijj#2691
Also let me know what your desired rate is for consideration.
It's a solid job and potentially long-term work. Paid in either Etherium or DAI (stable coin).

The theme is pretty dark/ devilish for marketing purposes; but other than that it's pretty normal. The sprites are pretty large but there will be an assortment of other styles in the near future with some smaller resolution sprites.

We're also looking for mutability in an artist, so keep that in mind.

UPDATE: Looking for a single free-lance artist; not design studios or firms.

Pixel Art / Portraits (Erde)
« on: April 29, 2015, 11:22:31 pm »
I have slowly continued making portraits for my project Erde, the style was developed here:http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=16107.0
Thanks to all who posted there esp. Cyangmou, Facet and Vagrant for their help in developing a fresh style for the portraits. I have continued working in what I think has become a pretty specific style.
I'm trying a new approach with the latest WIP; working directly from a pencil drawing rather than my usual loosely based from various sketches approach. I feel like her personality suffers in the pixel version though! I see a few differences in the facial structure but it's quite a different medium from the flat pencils to the paint-like pixels, so I am challenged.
original pencil drawing:                                                 transition:

&  amongst the others so far created:

Help me get this last portrait lookin' good.

Something I recently pixeled showing no WIP (I probably should have posted a couple days ago). I like to just work on things continuously sometimes from start to finish and at my own high pace.
I realize it's odd to post something not sketchy here but here it is anyhow,
(You never know what might happen).

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#221 - Erde Mockups - Gameart
« on: December 26, 2013, 12:52:22 pm »
I thought I'd start a thread here posting mock-ups using some of my newer sprite frames and a new tile set I'm developing for my own project called 'Erde'. An RPG game with a small resolution (close to GBA size only 16:9)

I just finished the landmasses for this scenario but I need to do some small caves and a waterfall to go with it.

Edit

: I had to remove the eyeburning bright grass I had originally posted; it was getting to me.

2D & 3D / Help me complete a 2 piece set
« on: June 04, 2013, 01:12:24 am »
I've just about finished the first part of a two piece set of digital paintings. I'm not seeking much for critique on that one cause it's already done, I'm way behind and I want to get through the next one much faster. What I seek here are good ideas and help with composition. I will be posting the progress on it as I go starting tonight. I plan on putting my first session in this eve.
I need ideas for the second one which will be the exact same dimensionally. The first one is supposed to be: dark/creepy, closed/claustrophobic, tense/awkward.. while I want the next to be: pure/light, open/free, relaxed/serene.
I'll  post the almost finished one, I just need to add a human heart onto the plate on the table (requested by client, I honestly dislike anything to do with blood [hemophobic]), but  I will do that before printing of course. It's pretty much considered done besides that and touching up some little things throughout the image. Here it is:

And here's the second one so far:
edit: added below.

It's empty, but as I said I'm starting today. I'm thinking; open sky, a meadow, and the female character in a flowing white gown maybe looking out into the distance.
Please give me some ideas.. I had almost foreseen the previous image as it is; I had plenty of ideas I used.. but with this one I'm completely uncertain about what kind of look I want. I'd like it, as I mentioned, to match yet balance out the other image with the opposites mentioned above.. open, free, serene etc. Thinking about using a lot of Cyan, blue and green.. similar to what you see out the right window in the previous image. Let me know what you think. I will continue to update as I go.
I want to keep this second one pretty simple as well.. Help me achieve simple yet effective.

General Discussion / 7 portraits in 7 days (fun challenge)
« on: January 30, 2013, 03:18:47 am »
I would love to see some folks from here try this out(see following link). You can do as many as you'd like... I just want to do at least 7 myself:http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=9492.0
You can do a portrait of anyone/thing you'd like. They are only 32 pixels by 48 tall. Use this for reference to help get a feel for the unique style they're in:http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=8536.0 I'm going to do two more tonight and I'm only starting day 2 now. They don't take long. So you might enjoy it.

Pixel Art / Mermaid in the tub
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:51:13 am »
There's no mermaid in the tub yet.. :-[
Will be adding soon
- but thought I'd post beforehand.
I don't know if that counts it out as pure pixel art because I used layers.. very back part of background(the design is wip) not drawn pixel by pixel yet.
I want to focus on next getting the mermaid into the set.. her head on our left. I'd like her tail and fin maybe hanging out of the other end near the faucet and pipes. I want her reclined and confident looking. Probably start sketching a couple poses first.. idk lets see what happens.

Pixel Art / Final Fantasy VI portraits [update]
« on: December 14, 2010, 07:40:01 am »
Hello Pixelation. Took me a minute to take in the beauty here....
Thought I'd post since I've been working on some pixel art myself recently.
____________________________I did all of them but Smash, also a member here and of FFHacktics.com, touched up the one of the empire soldier;  so I can't claim it 100%...
I'm Lijj from site mentioned above. I've done a lot of sprites for FFT since I discovered that site about 6 months ago. I just discovered this site and I'm blown away by some of the talent I see. I also have more of these but don't want to over-post.
