I agree with the previous poster about not enough contrast.  I have yet to see a post where I think to myself "woah, too much contrast!"

Best advice I can give, and maybe this is just me, but think of it in its parts.  You'll have the front, with the top.  The '3/4 top down' perspective is ultimately a combination of these two angles, plus overlap considered, such as the head overlapping the shoulder area.  If you don't find any specific tutorials on google, just look at other sprites and pick up their techniques!

Since you added the darker blue, I am not seeing any particular improvements, just variations.  I think you got this one covered homie!

Looks cool! And I like the vine!  I am not sure what the white things are supposed to be, I assume some teeth or something?  You might to solidify that area.  Keep it up!

The knees still look a bit off,  there is a frame where his knees bend but the hips don't move, which makes it look like the legs are stretching out.  The other edits are looking good!

Looks good, only thing that feels 'off' to me is something about your brightest tiles in the background.  Something between the red/purple that isn't reading correctly.  I suggest doing a quick test with different hues and brightness to help distinguish each color more.

I dig.  The blue looks a little flat in the chest area of the portrait.  Maybe try messing around a bit with some dithering or if you're willing to add a second darker shade, try that?  The previous poster shares my thoughts, which is that you're probably not willing to increase your palette if you're aiming for the NES style.

Well, you're only going to get so much out of two frames.  It mostly looks fine, but the highlight in the legs should probably stay on 1 side, whereas you have the highlight starting on the outer edge and ending up in the middle.  She has no groin.

I think you have the essential concept down.  There's definitely more than one correct answer to this.  Personally,  I would have the ball retain its original shape quicker on the way back up.  But I do like your exaggeration, which is the second point of this exercise after squash and stretch.

Another thing that comes to mind as I look at your animation again, you would benefit from offsetting your arm animations.  Delaying one of the arms by one frame will result in a more organic look.
