Pixel Art / Re: Turtle Mage (WIP)
« on: June 09, 2017, 05:35:54 pm »
Thanks for the tips LomDom. This is actually the first time I have done any pixel art at this high of a resolution, but I have learned a lot while working through it! As far as the outlining, the same color is used on the top and bottom. I think it just looks different due to the outline being right next to the highlights on the top and the shadow on the bottom. I'll definitely look into some tutorials on creating color palettes as well!

Pixel Art / Turtle Mage (WIP)

So I'm actually working on a board game and I'm planning on doing pixel art. This is one of the player characters that will go on a card. I'm still trying to decide on style. I don't want to be too realistic (which I fear is the direction this one is headed in).

This one I just threw together as another style:

I think I want to do something between these two.

Hey I might be interested. What style are you looking for? Here is what I have in portfolio so far: http://pixelation.org/index.php?topic=21441.0

Ok! Wow, there was a lot more than what I realized! This was my first GB mockup. Thanks for the info, I will definitely use that for the next one!

Oh shoot! I totally didn't realize that. I forgot to count black... Thanks for pointing that out! I think I fixed the colors here:

Ok I've added the Little Sister, adjusted shading, and changed the Big Daddy's feet. What do you think?

Hey! What kind of game are you making? What kind of art style? I would be potentially interested in doing some art. Here is my current portfolio: http://pixelation.org/index.php?topic=21441.0

Thanks guys! I'm working on the feet. I've changed some of the shading I had as it didn't quite match this style. The thing in the fountain is supposed to be one of the plasmid containers. Since it's not a full game, you have no reference. If it were the full game, I'm assuming you would have run into them in the beginning and it would explain it! ;) The other ground material is grass, and I can't believe I forgot the little sister! I kind of like the UI as it is. I tried changing it, but then it got too bulky. I'll see what I can do about the lightning!

I'm doing a mock screenshot of Bioshock as an old gameboy game. I haven't been doing pixel art for very long and have been trying new things to get better. I still want to add a few more things, but tell me what you think!

Thanks for checking out my portfolio! I'm just starting out in pixel art and I'm loving it! I'm doing pixel challenges from different communities to get better, and I would love to work on some games! Here are some of my current pieces, and I will continue to update as I have more!
