(astounding. I like the twister)
Mirre:

I really enjoy the colour scheme - and the way you did the gradient is awsome. Never seen it done like that before! However, it was supposed to be 240x160, not 160x240, which might cause some hassle later on ;) )
-
(becomes startled) Oh my!
Well then. Looks like things worked out for me in the end. I would have sucked this one up pretty bad. I wonder how diverse every one's pieces will look. I put $10 down, that 2 people will come up with a similar concept. I betcha' they will, I betcha'....
Good luck, and Pixel God speed!
-
Ooh, very different from the other rounds, and thats good!
Can't wait to see the entries.
(why is this topic posted in General Discussion?)
Because only mods and admins can start threads on the Challenges and Activities part.
-
Oh shit now I'm happy that I didn't make it to this round :P
Well good luck everyone.
Now it's only 4 contestants so everyone better submit something this time!
-
damn - i wish i was in this round.
-
Whew, sounds hard, best of luck to the competetors.
Something i'm sure some people will be wondering: flying creatures, yay or nay?
-
Wow, this is a good idea. Not only is technical ability put to a great test, but so are the boundaries of imagination and interpretation. I can't wait to see the results! Good luck, guys! :y:
-
I put $10 down, that 2 people will come up with a similar concept.
*Puts down $10* I bet they won't.
(Be really original, guys!)
-
Skies.. i wish i was in this round. Anyway good luck everyone!
-

Something i'm sure some people will be wondering: flying creatures, yay or nay?
no.
no creatures.
only things that pertain to the sky.
im sure ill be asked though:
yes, rain, lightning, sunrays, etc IS allowed.
-
Clouds shaped like creatures?
;)
-
4 more days till some exciting results. But seriously, where's the love for this thread? I remember the past threads were filled with comments and whatnot. At any rate, I'm still filled with anticipation.
-
silence and serenity are always before the worst of storms.
-
clearer rules, fewer contestants and no works posted in public = no conversation.
-
There's not even trash talk this round...
-
whats there to talk about, we know all 4 entries are going to be awesome.
-
I'm kinda grateful for the deadness of this thread, 'cause that means the contestants are working harder on their pixels instead of trying to come up with insults or being confused. (That's what it better mean.)
-
I, personally, can't wait
(until I get back from my trip on the 3rd and finally find out who won).
-
Haven't heard from Blick in a while. Hope he posts something, or is ok, for that matter. That would really suck for Mirre, seeing as how the majority of her opponents were ghosts(including me :-[ )
Either way, trash talking is a way of life, and if they won't do it, then I shall. I'll be Buloght's smack-talking voice for today: " What choo' got on me sucka'!! I'm the baddest mofo around town!! Snake!?! SNAKE!?! More like worm! Don't you know who I is? I'm Buloght "The Bullet" , sucka! Prepare yo self, for destruction!!"....yeah, something like that...
-
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place currently.
I will still attempt an entry Thursday and finish it Friday, I hope. My creativity is sort of fading and my life has become a bit more cluttered lately.
-
At the end of this pixelator thing, all the losers from all the rounds will be banned.
I kid, I kid
Looking forward to see new entries and all. Uhm, good luck to the participants.
-
B.O.B., i had no idea you were otocon......
-
Hehe, that's pretty good B.O.B. I see snake runnin' in fear ... jk.
I have not been able to make something, I just did not have time this round, as much as I know I can't really beat the snake, I really wanted to make something worthy of the semi's, I did try something for a couple of hours (but it was rushed and quick cause it was all the time I had) but I haven't done skies much in my short pixel time yet this last year and I have gained a lot of experience by just doing this compo :)
Looking forward to the other entries, and I'd sure as hell love to enter another one. Goodluck to snake, mirre and blick!
-
Aaaww... no kicking the shit out of snake in my place then?
But you will at least submit something, will you?
Don't let any wins by default happen this round.
Those suck.
-
That's really too bad Buloght, I was looking forward to it. There's no honor winning without competition.
It's understandable though. Hope you at least post your WIP so we can see what might have been.
-
since buloght dropped out, unfortunatly
and there are 3 competitors left.
This will be a 3 way duel.
Therefore this eliminates the default win.
The two best pieces move on.
-
Crap. I was about to say that I have to drop out. I don't want to give it to Mirre that easy though. Dammit. I'll at least give something a try. I think I've got two hours or so to spend.
-
Stop failing damn it!
-
just you left blick
please try not to drop out
-
Hokay, submitted mine. I like what I did... but it is much less complicated than what I had planned. Didn't manage to execute any of the fancy ideas I had though, so I settled for something simple. But it is something that I truly love about the sky.
Sad to hear there will be nothing from you buloght, and maybe nothing from Blick :( ...I was looking forward to your entries guys. Even if you don't finish in time, still post a w.i.p. of what you did, please?
-
Well, Blick? :mean: *taps foot impatiently*
-
Sooooo...say, for example, Blick doesn't turn anything in: Does that mean this turns into the last round, where the champeen' is decided between Snake and Mirre?
-
That would be very anticlimatic. :-X
-
Oh come on... if Blick didn't turn anything in either, I would still like a final round. Please?
-
Oh man that can't be happening.
2 out of 4 people don't submit anything in the pre-finals?
You had 2 weeks, just submit something even if it's a wip!
It's better than nothing.
-
End of round.
So...
That means both Mirre and Snake move on.
I am still planning on having a final round - since you two technically werent supposed to compete this round.
Ill have the next challenge up shortly
ill just give you a quick bit of time, to see the entries.
Excellent entries both of you.
-
Holy-... oh my-... wow. Snake. You never cease to amaze.
-
Heh, these were great.
@Buloght: I can understand why you didn't send something in, Buloght. I also didn't find enough time to finish mine, and well, to be honest, I didn't think out just how hard or long my piece would actually take. However I still believe it right for you to submit something, at least a wip of some sort. I know you have something back there. Same goes to Blick. ya' lazy bastardos! (joking)
Good luck to the champeens in the final round...
-
snake, you are amazing.
mirre, i really like what youve done aswell.
i cant wait for next round.
-
Wonder what the final round will be! something cool! something unordinary! *waits excitedly*
-
wow, snake managed it perfectly to make his entry so rich and detailfull, and yet not too complicated to be visually attractive. also I love the different moods expressed by the different parts of the picture. for me this is a picture to learn from, not only in terms of pixelart techniques.
mirres entry is great too, having this very nice palette and a gradient over 200 pixels only done with 2 colours :D
also I really like how the stars look in the lower area which really makes them look like they were shining through the dark-blue atmosphere instead of looking like they were in front of it (seen from our side. oh well I guess I can't explain it right, nevermind)
Stunning entries, both of you :)
-
Snake - that's awsome. Fantastic composition, style and contrast. I showed my mom, and she was very impressed. Then I told her it was pixel art. ;D
Mirre - I really love that moon, the misty look of the gradient and the way the stars in the brighter sky aren't as clear.
Great job, both of you!
-
I...I think my eyes asploded.
Great job, both of you. Just lovely. I mean...wow.
-
Holy crap.. That is amazing. I ain't going near that Haha. Hurray for the final round! Great job to you two!
-
it was supposed to be 240x160, not 160x240, which might cause some hassle later on ;) )
alluding to the final challenge, perhaps?! D:
Snake, love your entry, though, some parts seem a tad sketchy, but i guess that is expected when pixelling a sky, something that isn't really structured or defined, as well as with limited colors. A great job overall. I kinda wished the lightening was more contrasted, but it looks nice.
Mirre, I like the layout of yours, a nice vertical panoramic, but i can't help but feel that the 50% dither throughout most of the lower portion could have been mixed up a little, with different patterns to add more interest. The moon is nicely done, and it flows well as a whole. Good work.
-
Goddam those entry's... Thats brain exploding goodness that is.
final round will certinly be something.
-
it was supposed to be 240x160, not 160x240, which might cause some hassle later on ;) )
Uh-oh...
lol, what a stupid mistake (I was just waiting for myself to do something like that).
And wow snake, I totally love yours. It's such a great mix of calm sky and storm. I especially like the lightning, and the parts where the light shines through the clouds.
The last round is going to be... exciting. I'm looking forward to it.
-
wow, great work guys. Snake, that sky is amazing! Yours rule too mirre and you are guys are gonna have a splendid final!
[edit] I wil try and finish mine nontheless and post it in pixel art thread.
-
Superb.
The different style both look fantastic.
-
Was really hoping for Blick to show up. Ah well. That's some effective dithering you've got going Mirre, had to zoom to notice.
Guess I'm up against you in the final round after all. Can't wait to see how this turns out! I wish you the best of luck in the finals.
(and I'm still waiting for those WIPs ;) )
