Title: [WIP] Need Help on Art
Post by: porsef on May 06, 2017, 06:59:06 pm
Hey! I have this piece of pixel art that's in desperate need of help. I can see a few flaws but no matter how much I tweak with it, I can't seem to fix it! If anyone here has any suggestions as to how I can improve this, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The main thing that I'm struggling with is the perspective. The arms are clearly not in perspective but if I shorten the right side, it still looks wrong. Here is the art that I'm talking about:

Try flipping the image horizontally.  That sometimes makes errors easier to spot.

The legs and shoulders are parallel to the ground, but if you are trying to make the character in perspective, the hips and shoulders should be angled slightly.  The far leg will appear shorter than the other.

Draw a horizon line to the right of the character, then draw straight lines from that point to intersect the shoulders, hips, hands, and feet.  You might also want to try imagining a bisecting vertical contour line down the planar faces of the character's head and torso.

she's got kind of an eggy body. Try adding a divot so she has a clearer divide between hips and chest!
