Title: Advice on detailing
Post by: Veechu on April 28, 2017, 05:45:11 pm
Hi there folks. I've just started dipping my toes into pixel art and I could use some advice on this little guy I've got.

I've attempted some details on one of his wings but it doesn't look right to me. Any critique or advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey, the crow looks pretty nice but seems only as a silhouette in it's original size. I think that's because the tones are too similar to each other - if you want it to look nicer and actually visible in its original size you need to increase contrast.

I second sokyogoku on increasing contrast. I feel since he's so small, it might be best to just go for one or two highlights instead of trying to create individual feathers. If you want a feathered look you might have to make him a bit bigger.
