Hi, I'm trying to make a very simple real time strategy game character. There's just an overall awkward feel to the animation. Does anyone know what it is?

when you walk your feet are supposed to go a considerable amount back, im also creating an isometric game ((8bit)) and had the same exact problem, i just added a frame, made the feet go back a little more on the frame, shaded the back leg and voila it looked a much much better, try reffing other spritesheets too

Different thing to fix it, but with the legs moving forward as they do it looks more like a shuffle. Try bending the legs more at the knee, have the foot come further off the ground when it comes forward to reflect that!

Try moving the legs closer together. People put one leg in front of the other when they run, otherwise they'd be unbalanced and fall over. That's why when waddling (a form of walking where the legs don't go one in front of the other, but stay on their respective sides), people shift their body weight over the currently-planted leg - it's to keep their balance.

Various changes here! Pulled out the leg a pixel to better represent leg perspective, made the shirt conform to the legs better, and finally redid the feet so they arc a bit better.
Hope this helps!

Thanks! I love what you did with the feet.
